Music Playlist: RUN!

If you are looking for “new” music to push your speed, get you up that hill faster, or if you simply enjoy upbeat music, then I really hope you find some new songs you love.

I was super-surprised to find that the post with most hits on my blog to date is the music-related post reviewing all of the songs I had suggested on every recipe. I am thrilled to know there is an audience enjoying my love of music and therefore wanted to share some playlists I think many would enjoy.

The two I am sharing below are playlists of songs I have collected over many years that push me, motivate me and pump me up when I run. I used to run a lot more than I do now. In my 20’s I ran two marathons, however midway through the second one I found myself asking why the hell I was doing another marathon? Today I have no idea how I ran 26.2 miles TWICE?! Now I run to clear my head more than anything else. It is the best and cheapest therapy. Listening to great music pushes me to go faster and run harder. I get bored easily with songs but the ones on these playlists tend to re-motivate me when I return back to them every now and again. It’s why I want to share them.

“Angry-Boy Run” was initially what I called the first mix because it is all male bands/artists making a lot of great noise that gets me all pumped up. You will find upbeat, fairly high-energy music on both playlists but do not let the word “angry” steer you away. They aren’t really all that angry. Well, ok, some may be a little angry-ish, but only in a “RUN HARDER” motivating way. Eventually I had to come up with a playlist of female artists that equally pushed my running so of course it was called “Angry-Girl Run”. Both playlists have a lot of variety although the male one is more alternative-rock and the female playlist has more pop/rock/alternative crossover.
